DECLARATION NO: 17 DATED: 25/10/1438 AH EQUIVALENT TO 19/07/2017 CE A DECLARATION BY THE UNION OF AFRICAN MUSLIM SCHOLARS ON THE ASSAULTS AND CLOSURE OF AL-AQSA MOSQUE BYTHE OCCUPATION AUTHORITIES.
All praise and commendation is due to Allah, Who took His servant for a journey by night from Al-haram mosque to Al-Aqsa mosque. May His peace and blessings be upon the seal of the prophets and messengers; who travelled and was ascended to heavens by night through Al-Aqsa mosque; Muhammad our noble prophet and the generality of his household and the companions. To proceed:
The Union of African Muslim Scholars, as well as the entire Muslims all over the world , has kept track of the acts of aggression by the Israeli occupation authorities on the blessed Al-Aqsa mosque- the first cynosure (Qiblah) of the Muslims, to the extent of precluding the Muslims from observing Friday prayer and inflicting physical attacks on the worshippers in the Mosque, including the Imam and the orator of Al-Aqsa mosque; His Eminence, Sheikh Ikrimah Sobri ( may Almighty Allah preserve him).
Moreover, given the position and honour of this mosque in the hearts of the Muslims, we, the Union of African Muslims Scholars declare to the entire world our condemnation and denunciation of this heinous, gruesome and outrageous act. and, on behalf of African Muslims proclaim the following;
1. We call for Sensitization of Muslims to the Palestinian plight under the Israeli occupation generally, and in particular the case of al-Aqsa (Jerusalem) mosque. This should be done through educational curricula at every level of education and via different mass media of communication in Africa.
2. Expressing outright solidarity with the defenders of al-Aqsa mosque, with a view to protecting the sacredness of the mosque and enlightening the world about criminal plans against the mosque.
3. Delivering Fridays sermons regarding al-Aqsa mosque and Palestine in every and nook and cranny of the African continent throughout the following three weeks, with a view to enlightening the public. Similarly special Qunut prayers are to be recited, to beseech Allah the Omnipotent, to return Al-Aqsa mosque to authority of the Muslims.
4. Appealing to governments of various countries, particularly Muslim countries, as well as human rights organizations to fulfil both their religious and humanitarian duty in this respect, which should lead to justice, and restoration of Palestinians’ rights, freedom and self-determination.
May the numerous peace and blessings of Allah be upon the noble prophet Muhammad, his relatives and his companions.
