The Grand Finale of Bamako Award for the Qur’an and Sunnah Memorisation, 17th Edition, 1444/2023 in Mali
From Monday, 13th Sha’ban,1444, corresponding with 6th March, 2023 to Sunday 19th Sha’ban, 1444, corresponding with 12th March, 2023 the activities of the Bamako Award for the Memorization of Qur’an and Hadith, which is being organized by the League of Muslim Preachers in Mali, took place with 500 contestants drawn from various cities and local governments in Mali. The programme was concluded with a Grand Finale chaired by the President of the League, who also doubles as a member of the Fatwa Committee in the Union of African Muslim Scholars, His Eminence, Shaykh Muhammad Turawi. Medals were awarded to the winners in a grand occasion graced by eminent personalities from the Muslim organisations and representatives of humanitarian foundations, clerics and preachers within and outside Bamako.
Some of the guests at the occasion include the Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Muhamidu Kuni, the President of Assembly of Ahlus Sunnah in Mali, Shaykh Youbayara, Chairman of the 5th Municipality, Mr. Amadou Watara, representative of the indigenous family of Bamako.
The occasion was also graced by a large number of the members of Union of African Muslim Scholars in Bamako, including the General Secretary, Dr. Saheed Muhammad Babasila, Assistant Financial Secretary who also doubles as the Director General of Al-Faaruq Foundation, first Deputy President for the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Mali, Shaykh Ibrahim Kuntawi, and others.
Some of the highlights of the occasion include the distribution of Qur’an copies which were donated by Al-Faaruq Foundation and the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Mali to all participants. The General Secretary of the Union gave the closing prayer.
