The General Secretary Supervises the 9th Convocation of Sahel University, Bamako, Mali
The General Secretary of the Union of African Muslim Scholars, who also doubles as the Vice-Chancellor of Sahel University, Bamako, Mali, Prof. Saheed Muhammad Babasila supervised the 9th Convocation Ceremony named after Alh. Mudisila, a prominent Sunni figure in Mali. The convocation took place on Saturday, 13th Rajab, 1444, corresponding with 4th February, 2023 under the chairmanship of the Director General of Al-Faaruq Foundation, who is also the Financial Assistant Secretary of the Union, Shaykh Ibrahim Kuntawi.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion include the representative of the Hon. Minister of Tertiary Education, Mr. Buraim Turawi and the Head of International Convoy in the Red Cross Society, Mr. Anthoney Garad.
Other dignitaries include members of the Union of African Muslim Scholars, academicians, heads of institutions, religious figures, journalists, in addition to members of the academic, students and parents of the Sahel University.
The number of the convocating students in this year is 122 from different faculties including Islamic Studies, Arabic language, Computer, Law and Economics.
The Vice-Chancellor, while delivering his speech, made a reference to the University’s achievement in organizing training workshop with the Arabic, French and English languages, in addition to workshop on Computer in the just concluded academic session. He also stated that the first batch of Postgraduate studies will be produced very soon as vivas are in the pipeline.
The ceremony was concluded with honouring the outstanding students based on their various faculties. Prayer was made for the students, parents and the country at large by a member of the League of Muslim Preachers in Mali.
