The Secretary-General, Executive Director and many members participate in the international conference on the Arabic language and Islamic civilization in sub -Saharan Africa
The Secretary-General, Dr. Saeed Muhammad Baba Sila and the Executive Director, Dr. Omar Bamba and many members of the Union of African Muslim Scholars living in the Union’s permanent site’s country participated in the international conference on Arabic language and Islamic civilization in sub -Saharan Africa, which was held in Bamako -Mali on Thursday 25 September 2025 AD. The theme of the Conference is: “Arabic Language and its Role in Knowledge Production and Confronting Religious Extremism in African-Sahel Region: Intellectual Techniques and Confrontation Strategies”, and it was held at the International Conference Center in Bamako.
The conference gathered a number of researchers and scholars from within and outside Mali, which gave an opportunity for discussing the role of the Arabic language and the intellectual product of its scholars in enhancing the discourse of moderation and confronting extremist thoughts in the Sahel part of Africa.This Conference was attended by His Excellency, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Worship and Customs in Mali, Dr. Mahamdu Omar Kony,
Academics, researchers and religious leaders, as well as representatives of Islamic institutions and diplomats.
The discussions focused on the role of the Arabic language in transferring knowledge and its contribution to preventing and combating extremism and fundamentalism in religion through education, research and dialogue.
