Some Members of the Union in Nigeria Participate in the Inauguration Ceremony of the Council of Muslim Scholars of Yorubaland

 

Considering the conspicuous disunity among the Muslim Preachers and scholars in Yorubaland of Nigeria, and in a bid to address the negative consequence being caused by the absence of a Council that coordinates the Da’wah activities and issuance of religious verdict in that region, some stakeholders from the tribe of Yoruba converged in Ibadan, the Capital city of Oyo State on Sunday 8th January, 2023, corresponding with 16th Jumadaal Akhirah, 1444 to inaugurate the activities of the Council of Muslim Scholars of Yorubaland.
The first general meeting which was held at the University of Ibadan Auditorium focused on the review of the Council’s constitution and appointment of the executive members who shall be coordinating the affairs of the new organisation.
It is worthy of note that members of the Union of African Muslim Scholars constitute a large number among the newly appointed executive members of the Council. Among them were Prof. AbdulGhaneey Akorede, Dr. Sirajudeen bn Bilal Asrau, Dr. Abdul Wahhab Elesin and others.
Meanwhile, Dr. Khidr Mustapha (Ogun State) has been appointed the President of the Council, Dr Alagunfan (Oyo State) as the Vice President, and Dr. AbdurRafiu Adisa Bello (Oyo State) as the General Secretary.

Yorubaland covers eight out of the thirty six states that constitute the present Nigeria, with population that is not less than Fourty Million.
